[1+1 FOR FREE] WORKSHOP: THE MAGIC OF COLOR – HOW ONE COLOR BECOMES TWO

Date: November 12th     Time: 12h-15h    Price: 60 euros (materials, drinks, and snacks)

Language: English and Dutch

In this workshop, Vico Persson will teach you about colour and how to make your own colourful collage.

The great modern painter and art teacher Josef Albers (1888 – 1976) was passionate about “really seeing” colour. He insisted that no colour was absolute, but that it was always relative according to its neighboring colour. This idea was central in both his own art, as well as in his teaching at the Bauhaus school of art, and at Black Mountain College.

During the workshop, we will look at (photos of) Josef Albers’s own paintings, and apply his principles to our own visual experiments, trying to make one colour appear differently according to its surroundings. You will be making colour compositions in a fun and untraditional way, using objects and your photo camera, as well as creating collage compositions with paper, paint, and cut-outs from magazines. You will end up with your own colorful art piece that you can take home.

This workshop is part of ‘1+1 free for Amsterdam residents promotion’ from IAMsterdam. Buy one ticket and get one for free!
