LIVE AT OUR PLACE: TEIS SEMEY + ISCHICO VELZEL & CATHAL KILLEEN

Date: December 15th Time: 20h Price: 10 euros*

As winter arrives, Treehouse NDSM brings together two creative powerhouses that represent different sides of the Amsterdam music scene. We invite all adventurous listeners with great taste to experience the fiery musical mash of Teis Semey’s punk-infused avant-garde jazz, and the Mediterranean classical music of clarinetist Cathal Killeen & pianist Ischico Velzel. The latter will present enchanting compositions from Spain adorned with lively rhythms and captivating harmonies; Italy, featuring lyrical and neo-romantic melodies; and France, with neoclassical themes and unique compositions.

Live at our Place is a series of monthly intimate concerts by Treehouse NDSM’s musicians-in-residence. Our industrial Pavilion building will be turned into the musicians’ own living room, tuned each time to their own particular style and vibe. We invite you to our place, grab a drink, sit on the couch (or dance!), and enjoy the tunes that our talented community is working on during their stay at Treehouse NDSM.

ABOUT TEIS SEMEY

Teis Semey, the “bad boy of Dutch jazz” (Trouw), is recognized by a fierce and explosive style of playing improvised music. Semey’s music takes place in the cross-section between jazz, punk and electronic improvised music. “Semey’s playing grabs you by the shoulders, and screams a story into your face. But a story with depth and nuance”, Jazzism wrote about Semey. “Teis Semey has the aggression of punk and the sensibility of choral music,” NRC wrote. On his third full length album Mean Mean Machine (Zennez Records), the Danish guitarist uses the full range of his sound palette to bring us a “punk-infused avant-garde indie-jazz album”.
